Crispy Garlic Pizza Crust Recipe

A plain crispy pizza crust

Total Time

55 minutes

Yield

6-8 slices

My pizza options have always been limited due to my food allergies. Nonetheless, I often want to eat pizza. As a solution to my cravings, I took an old tapioca flatbread recipe and adapted it into this allergen-free pizza crust.

I use the Authentic Foods brand tapioca flour. For the oven temperature, 350 works for a softer crust, 375 makes a bit crispier crust, and 400 produces the crispiest and fastest crust.

Allergy Information

Free of: Sesame, dairy, fish, shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, and soy

Contains: Eggs

Ingredients

1 clove of fresh garlic or garlic powder (to taste)

3 eggs

2 tbsp. water

3 tbsp. olive oil

1 cup tapioca flour (not to be confused with tapioca starch, which does not work well for this recipe)

1 pinch of salt

Directions

Step 1

If you are using fresh garlic, cut or shred it. Place it in a small or medium sized mixing bowl.

Step 2

Put cooking oil in a large metal frying pan and preheat it on medium-low.

Step 3

Add the wet ingredients to the bowl and mix it all together. Make sure you beat the eggs thoroughly before moving on to the next step.

Step 4

Add the flour and salt (and garlic powder if you are using it instead of fresh garlic) to the mix and stir it all together.

Step 5

Once the pan is hot enough, pour your batter in and allow it to cook. Once the top of the mixture starts to wrinkle or bubble in the pan, flip it.

Step 6

A few minutes later, check the underside to see if it is thoroughly cooked. It should be a golden brown color. Once it is, take it off the stove and put it on a plate to cool.

Step 7

Once ready, you can refrigerate the crust to use for a pizza the next day or start it immediately. If you had it in the refrigerator before use, reheat the pizza crust in the oven for approximately five minutes at 350 degrees before you put on your toppings. This will create a better shape for the crust.

Step 8

Finally, put on the toppings of your choice and cook between 350-400 degrees Fahrenheit until the toppings are the way you like them. I normally cook it on a sheet pan or an oven-safe plate.

Step 9

Enjoy your pizza!
