Ingredients:
3 green plantains
Oil (vegetable or canola recommended) for frying
Salt
Red chili powder
Alternate: Sugar
You can choose between salt + red chili powder for savory chips or
some sugar for sweet ones!
Directions:
1. Peel plantains and cut off ends.
2. Depending on whether you want circular or rectangular slices:
a. Circular: Use a mandoline to cut the plantains into rounds. Make very
thin slices if cutting by hand.
b. Rectangular: First cut the plantain in half, and slice lengthwise (these
will be slightly thicker than circular chips).
3. Add seasoning (salt, red chili powder, or sugar) and toss.
a. This can also be done at the end once fried.
4. Fill a stainless-steel pan with oil and set on medium heat. Carefully put in
plantains and fry until crispy and golden.
a. Fry in batches for best results.
5. Transfer to a plate with a paper towel or rack, and season as needed.
6. Enjoy!
