Top 9-Free Plantain Chips Recipe

Craving a crispy, flavorful snack? Try out these plantain chips that are free of the

top 9 food allergens! They’re great for sharing with family and friends and are sure

to delight with their golden yellow color and delicious taste!


Ingredients:

  • 3 green plantains

  • Oil (vegetable or canola recommended) for frying

  • Salt

  • Red chili powder

  • Alternate: Sugar

    • You can choose between salt + red chili powder for savory chips or

some sugar for sweet ones!


Directions:

1. Peel plantains and cut off ends.

2. Depending on whether you want circular or rectangular slices:

a. Circular: Use a mandoline to cut the plantains into rounds. Make very

thin slices if cutting by hand.

b. Rectangular: First cut the plantain in half, and slice lengthwise (these

will be slightly thicker than circular chips).

3. Add seasoning (salt, red chili powder, or sugar) and toss.

a. This can also be done at the end once fried.

4. Fill a stainless-steel pan with oil and set on medium heat. Carefully put in

plantains and fry until crispy and golden.

a. Fry in batches for best results.

5. Transfer to a plate with a paper towel or rack, and season as needed.

6. Enjoy!
